Picture of Today - A Music Studio in My Neighborhood
16 July, 2004, I took a picture of an interesting facade of a music studio in my neighborhood. It's on 7th and Hoover. Found this place a couple of weeks ago, but I'd never had chance to take a photo until this morning. Don't exactly know why I think it's interesting. I guess it's the combinative effect of the color, materials, the signs and Mexican/Hispanic culture that makes me feel there is still some vitality existing in this poor community. |

How is it a 'poor' community?
不太確定你想要問什麼.
poor 可以解讀為貧窮或貧脊.
經濟上的貧窮或文化上的貧脊皆適用在我住的社區.
請問你是誰?
Poverty is such a subjective term. Economic poverty, cultural poverty... When you took the photograph, it is a apparent that you recognized the richness of the environment. You mentioned the colors, materials, the signs, the hispanic culture contributing to the vitality of the neighbourhood, but yet you termed it a "poor community". An oxymoron, don't you think? I'm merely curious as to what you see in this photo, and what I don't see beyond this photo.
It may just be an instant feeling that moved me, but it somehow reflects my interpretation of "being poor" or "being rich", which might be observed/supported by very surface evidence - the look of buildings/community, street facilities, street trees, how people dress...etc. Maybe I don't have such a good faith in capitalism that results in the current social hierarchy. Anyway, as mentioned in the paragraph, I was just simply happy to see an interesting young shoot grows in "poor" soil. I may be wrong, but it's good to have feedbacks that make me to reflect on this more. :)
